Body for life the Gluten Free Way Day 1

So having done Body for life before I know that its something that works for me.  Is the kind of person that I am.  So I've decided to do again.  This time though, I'm Gluten free, Soya Free, Dairy Free and Sugar Free.  The hardest thing is the lack of available protein shakes.  I've surfed the internet and managed to find a substitute to Myoplex or normal Whey Protein shakes.  I've ordered it and its coming from USA.  Yay!! Other than that, its all about being ready for everything and planning my whole programme at all points. I've ordered the book to and the journal to help me on my journey.  Day one is today and so far so good.  I've been to the gym and worked on my upper body.  I'll do my first weigh in tomorrow and take my before photographs. Quite excited really.  One of the hardest things will be having to get a taxi to my chosen gym every day as its too far away to walk but I want this so I'm willing. :-)

Weight Gain in Celiac Disease & How to Lose Weight on the Gluten-Free Diet

It's interesting when you get information on weight loss or gain or lack of both and how it may be linked to your allergies, lack of nutrients and imbalance in the body.  So you find yourself regularly working out at the gym and eating well, focusing on your aims and wants but theres just something that isn't going right.  Studies show that the lack of or imbalance of vitamins and minerals in your system may be the reason for your lack of progress.  I found a great website with detailed information on how this can affect you.  Check out:-  http://bit.ly/GFweightloss something close to my heart right now.

Range of food

I find it hardest eating out and about.  The fact that life everyday means planning what and how I eat.  A simple day trip is taking food with me.  A trip on the train, coach, plane means either taking my own food or settling for junk.  The hardest thing is the lack of understanding of others.  I'd love to find a way of changing peoples understanding and out look.  Things can be so much better.  Thats the bright part of this thought process.  Thats the way to make the changes. :-)

Eating Out

Does anyone else find it difficult when out and about eating, whether at a restaurant, cafe or just at a friends place.  I went to a friends for dinner last night and it was lovely to see that they'd laid out an equivalent meal just for us coeliacs.  There was another person at the meal with a similar allergy problem and how great it was to have someone else random there to talk about things.  One thing we all agreed on is that stores don't openly advertise where one can buy foods.  Once again proving the brilliance behind the Foods You Can idea.

Travel and Food

Does anyone else feel the same about the lack of food to eat when out and about? I was in London recently and travelling by train.  It was hard, I'd quite happily take my own food out with me but there is nowhere to heat it up and a sandwich with plastic like bread just isn't the same. I do just hope that one day and sometime soon this is no longer the case.  Roll on that day. :-)

Rather upsetting

I decided to pop into the town centre yesterday afternoon to pick up a few items I hadn't been able to get from my online grocery shopping.  I was upset and annoyed to see that the stores weren't able to cater for my needs.  I firstly went into a well known whole foods shop excited at the prospect of my almond milk and gluten free porridge only to find that they didn't have either.  I just couldn't believe it.
It didn't help that I was escorted to the area by the store assistant who said "here is the area for that medical purpose." Hmmmm I thought..... but then again it is just education.  People can only do and or be who they are, what they say by the knowledge that they have.  So how can I, We ... make these changes?  Stop this taboo and shout out to the world that we, I, are all the same.  I hope that one day I am able to walk into a store, restaurant etc and know that there is always something that I can eat.

I know that day will come and I can't wait for it. :-)
